OVERVIEW
MARINAS ON THE LAKE
Lake Whitney Marina @ Juniper Cove is one of four
marinas on the lake that serve the boating public.
View the USACE's list of
commercial marinas.
We operate year-round and offer covered wet slips up
to 50', uncovered slips, and end-ties;
annual dockage licenses;
boat ramps at different elevations; on-site dry
storage; two gasoline pumps; a floating ship's store;
vessel pumpout service; daily parking; and
overnight accommodations
(several types of cabins and
campsites offered). We're also a certified Clean Marina.
PUBLIC PARKS
Lake Whitney has one state park, which is operated by
TPWD. There are multiple
USACE parks around the lake. Their fees, hours, and
facilities vary.
DAY USE AREAS
Most of the public parks on Lake Whitney have day use
areas where you can fish, swim, picnic, or beach a boat.
Contact TPWD and the USACE for hours, fees, and
facilities. Lake Whitney Marina @ Juniper Cove does not
have a day use area.

WHERE TO FISH
Catch stripers, crappie, catfish, black bass, white
bass, and more on Lake Whitney. You can go fishing from
the bank at a local park, off your own boat or kayak on
the water, or out on a boat with a professional fishing
guide. Consider joining a local fishing club
and/or participating in open
tournaments held on Lake Whitney.

Fish from your own
boat or kayak. There's a boat ramp at the marina
where you may launch and put in.

Hire a licensed, professional
fishing guide serving Lake Whitney and go out on a
half-day or full-day trip. Consider
staying in one of the marina's cabins or campsites the
night before your fishing trip. You'll be only steps from the
dock where you'll meet your guide early the next morning.
Note: Bank fishing is not permitted at Lake Whitney
Marina @ Juniper Cove. No fishing allowed from docks.
Fish cleaning
is not allowed at boat ramps, along the shoreline, on
docks, in parking areas, or in the campground.
Fish may be cleaned only at the marina's designated fish
cleaning station or they must be taken off-site and
cleaned.

Put in and take out kayaks and other paddlecraft at Lake
Whitney Marina's boat ramp.
LIFE JACKETS
Always wear a life jacket when you are on, in, or near
the water. Don't forget a life jacket for your pet!
Adult life jackets can be purchased inside the ship's store at Lake Whitney Marina @
Juniper Cove. We also loan out child and youth life jackets as part
of the BoatUS Foundation Life Jacket Loaner Program.
Contact the ship's store for details.
You can also borrow a life jacket from some of
the USACE-operated parks around the lake.
BEFORE
PLANNING EVENTS & ACTIVITIES
Some activities or events planned at
corps lakes
may require permission or a permit from the local project office.
Contact the project office for more information. This includes commercial events, fishing tournaments, boat regattas,
races, festivals, weddings, group picnics, reunions,
charitable events, youth group camping trips, club
meetings and outings, and workshops.
WHY VISIT LAKE WHITNEY
Lake Whitney is a popular place for residents of Texas and
bordering states to visit. Reasons include:

It's easy to access from major
roads, such as Interstate 35 and State Highway 22.

The reservoir is larger and
deeper than others in the region.
-
Outdoor recreation includes boating, sailing, jet
skiing, wakeboarding, paddling, fishing, camping, and
hunting.
-
There are full-service marinas and several parks
around the lake that offer direct access to the water.

The area is natural and the
terrain is scenic.
-
There's plenty of open water and
uncongested areas for boaters to enjoy during the busy
summer months.
-
It's less commercialized than
other lakes.
